Nominations for AU Sport Board membership will close on Monday, 14 May at 5pm.
Each year, half of the eight Board positions are up for election. Click here to link to the nomination form.
Current Deputy President and AU graduate, Chris McMichael, remarked that his five years on the Board "have been a thoroughly enjoyable and valuable experience."
He went on to say, "initially, my enthusiasm for joining the Board was from a curiosity regarding the inner workings of AU Sport. Over time, my role and experience has developed. I see AU Sport clubs as extremely important components of the University and the wider community."
From an employment aspect, Chris believes, "while my professional work is very different to a Board member's role, there are definitely aspects that are interchangeable. Approaching issues from a 'whole of organisation' standpoint is rare whilst being a university student or young professional."
Ali Lawrence, one of two female members on the Board who will be retiring in May as she moves interstate, attributes Board membership to giving her "a huge amount of confidence and putting me in the direction of a career path I didn't know I wanted. I have loved every minute and it has fuelled my passion for reaching equality for all in sports, life and everything in between."
Nominations can be made by students, graduates and friends of graduates who are AU Sport members. We particularly welcome nominations from women as we strive for a stronger female presence on the Board. Recently, the Blues Committee achieved a 50:50 gender balance for the first time in its 110 year history.
